Sofiia Sichkar

Artist & Writer

Sofiia Sichkar, born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, is an artist and a writer based in NYC, NY. She has worked and experimented with every single media, from digital to traditional. She is well known for her creature canvas sculptures where she has opened a new perspective on the material use for the sculpture industry, as well as her paintings and ink works for “The Mutation” Series.

Sofiia is also taking a part in the illustration community, she works on children book illustrations, book covers, editorial and advertising illustrations, these usually are done in adobe photoshop. Here she focuses on the clients and industrial needs and styles.

In regards to the outside of the art world, she is also heavily interested in linguistics, Cultures and Egyptology. With every single bit of outside knowledge she akwires, she then tries to slightly incorporate it in her artistic work, yet her work is far away from being a political commentary, her idea of incorporation is based in little details that some would not even notice or connect to, it is mostly done for her own enjoyment and interest.

Sofiia has been seen as an illustrator, fine artist and even a teaching artist due to her previous job at the private brooklyn art studio where she was a teacher and has taught art and sculpture to  kids from ages six to fourteen from 2018 to 2021. Yet she likes to be viewed as an Artist instead, saying that due to her working in so many styles and mediums, she can not be just an illustrator or just a fine artist, what she does is art and so she shall be referred to as an artist.

Sofiia doesn't comment on her writing abilities as much. She has written and directed 5 unfinished to this day WEBTOONS, and Short Comics featuring her monkey characters from “The Mutation” Series. She has been working on a few novels however these are yet to be finished and might never see the light of day.

Overall Sofiia Sichkar is an  artist, writer and a student, based in nyc, she is in love with what she does and loves to akwire outside knowledge for her own personal growth while also finding ways to incorporate it in her work.
